Wealden Dementia Action Alliance

The Wealden Dementia Action Alliance (WDAA) was established in May 2016 to help make our district more dementia‑friendly and to increase awareness across our communities, residents, and local businesses. In 2026 the alliance will be celebrating its 10 years anniversary!

Thanks to strong support from community groups, volunteers, organisations, and local partners, we now have three active dementia forums across the district. Each forum plays an important role in supporting local residents and raising understanding of dementia.

If you would like to get involved with the Alliance or join a local forum, please contact us at:

Activities and Support

A wide range of dementia‑friendly activities is available throughout the district, including cafés, exercise sessions, film afternoons, carers’ groups and more.

Our newsletter, sent every couple of weeks, shares full details of these activities.

Testimonials

Support and compassion , connection to others, talking, sharing, humour and positivity.

"Company, virtual company, understanding, empathy, advice, sympathy, a lending ear and shoulder to lean on!"

"Knowing you aren't alone means so so much. It can be a long journey being a carer for someone with Alzheimer's as friends and family don't always understand how we feel or what we deal with. Just knowing you have other lovely people by your side and just at a message or phone call away is amazing and so supportive. Xxx"
